1. About these terms

These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern use of the website at modernacademic.co.za ("the Site"), operated by Modern Academic ("we", "us", "our"), founded by Letoya and based at 155 West Street, Sandton, 2196, South Africa. By using the Site, purchasing a digital product, booking a session or enrolling in a coaching or advisory tier, you agree to these Terms.

2. Scope of our services

Modern Academic provides strategy, coaching and advisory. We do not write or review CVs as a service, submit applications on your behalf, contact recruiters or employers on your behalf, or guarantee interviews, job offers, hiring, promotion, income or any other outcome. You remain responsible for the decisions you make and the actions you take.

3. Coaching and advisory tiers

Career Foundation, Career Growth, Founder Strategy and Growth Advisory are sold as one month of access, paid once through PayFast. There is no automatic renewal: nothing is charged again unless you actively purchase another month. Each tier includes the defined number of sessions and between-session support described on its page, not unlimited access. Executive Career Advisory is application-based and is only offered after an application has been reviewed and accepted.

Sessions included in a month should be scheduled and used within that month. Unused sessions do not carry over unless agreed in writing.

4. Strategic One-on-One sessions

A Strategic One-on-One is a single, standalone session of the length purchased. A booking is confirmed only once payment is complete and a time has been selected through the scheduling link provided after payment.

5. Digital products

Playbooks, templates and other digital products are licensed, not sold outright. Purchase grants the buyer a personal, non-transferable licence to use the product for their own individual professional development. Each file is personally watermarked with the buyer's name, email address and a unique licence code at the point of download. Reproducing, redistributing, reselling, sharing a download link, or otherwise making a licensed file available to anyone who has not purchased it, is not permitted.

6. Payments

Payments are processed securely through PayFast. Prices are listed in South African Rand (ZAR). Checkout may display the name of the merchant account through which Modern Academic processes payments. Digital products are delivered by email once payment has been confirmed as complete. See our Delivery Policy.

7. Intellectual property

All content on the Site, including frameworks, methodologies, written material, product content and site design, is the intellectual property of Modern Academic or its founder and is protected by copyright. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of that intellectual property to any buyer or client.

8. Acceptable use

The Site may not be used to attempt unauthorised access to its systems, to scrape or bulk-extract content, or for any unlawful purpose. We reserve the right to restrict access where these Terms are breached.

9. Confidentiality

What you share in coaching and advisory sessions is treated as confidential and is not disclosed to anyone else without your consent, except where the law requires it.

10. Limitation of liability

Our coaching, advisory and products provide professional judgement, education and recommendations; they do not guarantee a specific career, financial or commercial outcome. To the extent permitted by law, Modern Academic's liability in connection with the Site, a digital product, a session or a coaching or advisory tier is limited to the amount paid for that specific product or service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.

11. Changes to these terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. The version in effect is the one published on this page at the time of use.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
