How Modern Academic collects, uses and protects your personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Who we are
Modern Academic is the responsible party for personal information collected through modernacademic.co.za. Our address is 155 West Street, Sandton, 2196, South Africa. You can contact us about privacy at support@modernacademic.co.za.
What we collect
- Your name and email address, when you join the founding list, buy a product, book a session or enrol in a tier.
- Your answers to optional founding-list questions, and the details you give in an Executive Career Advisory application.
- Payment confirmation details from PayFast (we never see or store your card details).
- Booking details you provide to our scheduling tool.
- Basic, aggregated website analytics, if enabled.
Why we use it
- To deliver what you bought and send confirmations and download links.
- To schedule and run sessions and coaching.
- To send founding-list and Academy updates you signed up for. You can unsubscribe from any email at any time.
- To improve our products, using founding-list answers in aggregate.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us operate: PayFast (payments), Netlify (website hosting and forms), Kit (email list), Resend (transactional email) and Cal.com (scheduling). Some of these providers store data outside South Africa, under safeguards that provide an adequate level of protection. We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep purchase records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and marketing contacts until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, object to its processing, or withdraw consent to marketing. Email support@modernacademic.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable time. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and signed, expiring download links.
